While our memories of the tragic events of September 11, 2001 begin to fade away with the passage of time, there in fact remain a number of unanswered, perhaps unanswerable, questions about that fateful day.
One of those mysteries that has still not been solved is the collapse of WTC Building 7, also known as the Solomon Brothers Building. That building was not hit by any plane, yet it collapsed at 5.20 pm, demolition style. Some have suggested that it was weakened by fire and thus it eventually collapsed of itself.
Did Larry Silversten Order Demolition?
It is documented on film that Larry Silverstein, of Silverstein Properties, the majority owner of WTC 7, recalled getting a call from the fire department commander saying they were not sure that they were able to contain the fire, and Silverstein said, "'We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it.' And they made that decision to pull and we watched the building collapse."
People have taken that to mean that he gave an order to have the building demolished. However, the official explanation was that Silverstein merely meant to have the firefighters withdrawn from the building.
The problem with that explanation is that at the time, there was no firefighting in WTC 7. In fact, by 11.30 am the commander in charge, Assistant Chief Frank Fellini, had already ordered firefighters away from the building for safety reasons.
But, of course, you just cannot issue an order for a building to be "pulled" and it's done. The controlled demolition of any building requires an enormous amount of logistics and meticulous preparation, and the time frame available, and the circumstances prevailing, would not allow for such an exercise to be carried out (unless preparation had already been done well beforehand.).

BBC Word Reports News Before It Happens
Another aspect of the mystery is that BBC World "prophesied" the collapse of WTC 7, before it happened. At 4.57 pm (Eastern Time) the station reported that the building had already collapsed. And it was even headlined in the 5 pm news round-up. The actual collapse only took place at 5.20 pm.
A reporter described the collapse of WTC 7 live on air, standing at a window showing the WTC area in the background. As she exchanged comments with the broadcaster in London about the collapse of the building, unbeknownst to her, viewers can see that very building fully visible and standing.
How and from whom did the BBC get "news" of the collapse of the building before the event took place?
The video documents what took place on BBC World live news on that fateful day. Note that WTC 7 is still standing intact, as the news presenter announces that it has collapsed.
